Kazakhstan transferred five locomotives free of charge to Kyrgyzstan
Kazakhstan transferred five locomotives to Kyrgyzstan free of charge as part of continued cooperation in the field of transportation infrastructure. The batch of five locomotives was transferred to the State Enterprise “National Company “Kyrgyz Temir Jolu”, the largest railroad carrier in Kyrgyzstan. The transferred locomotives included two shunting locomotives and three mainline locomotives handed over from Kazakhstan’s railroad stations Karataus, Zhem and Shymkent.
The transfer of the locomotives became possible due to the assistance of the Kazakhstan Agency of International Development “KazAID”, which actively works on strengthening ties and cooperation with neighboring countries in key areas including transport, energy and infrastructure.
The Chairman of KazAID A. Arystanov pointed out, “This step demonstrates the continuation of the official assistance’s successful implementation that contributes to the development and strengthening of fraternal relations between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, as well as KazAID’s support for infrastructural initiatives.”
The transferred locomotives will help to significantly improve freight transportation and maneuverability on Kyrgyzstan’s railroads and support further economic development of the region.
